"Thanks for a good semester. As a last note on writing, keep in mind that every writing situation is different and you should be considerate of why you do what you do each time. Just because something worked for one paper doesn't mean that it will work for another. Different audiences will expect different forms of evidence and the use of different tones and different examples will be successul or not situationally. As GI Joe used to say, "Now you know and knowing is half the battle." If you know why you did what you did, you will be leaps and bounds ahead of most writers."

Forget Cicero, from now on I'm going to take my rhetorics lessons from Cobra Commander.

Screw GI Joe! Turn to Captain Planet and the Planeteers for rhetorical inspiration!

That way, you'll be able to reach your intended audience AND save the planet from pollution! Your greatest contribution to the human race will be "the religious studies essay that saved the world."

Aside from missing a comma in the middle of the quote, was there some bit of 'Engrish' I missed? Or are you just sort of weirded out because your English professor quoted GI Joe?

There are a couple spelling errors as well. This is only an excerpt from the full email. He then goes into instructions on submitting final papers and there are a few interesting problems: "thier" (yes, spelled like that) for "they're" and "except" for "accept". It's possible he was typing late at night, but still... he's an English professor!

AND he quoted GI Joe! :P
